IT specialists are needed in every kind of business, no matter the size, to install, troubleshoot and support computer network systems. The Information Systems Technology program at Mitchell Technical College offers a comprehensive program to train entry level network or system administrators. Network Administrators are responsible for the computer network infrastructure. They maintain connectivity and security of the routers, switches and wireless equipment that modern networks depend on. System Administrators are skilled information technology professionals who are responsible for installing, supporting and maintaining servers and utilizing networking applications.

Mitchell Tech’s sophisticated labs and virtual modules enable students to learn the most current installation, troubleshooting and repair skills available. Network security is infused into every aspect of the curriculum, ensuring that graduates are well prepared to work in many employment sectors where data security is needed.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “The growing use of sophisticated computer networks and Internet and intranet sites and the need for faster, more efficient networking products will result in a higher than average job growth in this area.”

Please Note: Students in this program may be required to lift 50 lbs. and to demonstrate visual color discrimination.

Note: Students in this program are required to purchase a laptop computer from Mitchell Tech. The laptop will have the necessary software installed and will be serviced free of charge while the student is attending Mitchell Tech.
