Wi-Fi & Broadband Technologies, AAS Degree
Today’s broadband networks carry voice, video and data traffic across town and around the world. An Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Wi-Fi & Broadband Technologies will prepare you to work and configure these modern, high speed networks. Wi-Fi is the most common way people connect to the Internet. Broadband commonly refers to high-speed Internet access that is always on. The transmission path can be any combination of coaxial cable, optical fiber, wireless or twisted pair. This program is designed to prepare students for the broadband industry by teaching installation, operation and maintenance of communications platforms using the full range of communication paths. Specialty skills will include Wi-Fi, routing and switching, laser fiber optics, Voice over IP (VoIP) and much more.
Students will apply their basic knowledge of electronics, science and math by performing tests and troubleshooting equipment, working in field service or maintaining sophisticated electronic systems and residential connectivity and commercial networking equipment. Graduates will find employment opportunities all over the world.
Preparing a workforce to compete in the global marketplace is the exciting challenge for the Broadband industry. This program gives students the technical skills for success in the world of broadband.
